Somaiya Vidyavihar University Alumni Association

Somaiya Vidyavihar University Alumni Association, has been recently registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860. For the Somaiya Vidyavihar Group educational Initiatives which span over eight decades now, this is a very significant milestone. Being the only private Self-Financing University in the metropolitan city of Mumbai, enacted by Maharashtra State Legislation in 2019, the Somaiya Vidyavihar University and its Alumni can play a great role in the attempts toward positioning the same as a World- Class Institution of Teaching, Research, Consultancy and Community Engagement.

Alumni are the backbone of any educational institution, and their contributions are vital to the ongoing success and reputation of their alma mater. Networking among alumni and current students is crucial as it opens doors to countless opportunities, fosters personal and professional growth, and strengthens the community.

It is to support these goals, that the Somaiya Vidyavihar University Alumni Association, has been formed. This non-profit organization aims to advance the objectives of current and former students, providing a common platform for interaction and engagement. The association’s objectives include acting as a link between the university and its alumni, promoting education and research, providing support to meritorious and needy students, assisting alumni with placements, and encouraging alumni to sponsor university activities and events.

Somaiya Vidyavihar University is a testament to the Somaiya Group's ethos, redolent of its history, of contribution to society and to education. Every alumnus of every institution of the University is also a Somaiya Alumnus, rightly taking pride in the attainments of all and contributing to all, across the institutional family.

At Alumni Relations, we shall strive to enhance the identity and profile of the University alumni body in the great world outside – and within the family. Any SVU alumnus from any University institution must evoke recognition that she/he bears the ethos, calibre and attainments of the Somaiya name.

I welcome all alumni of SVU to the SVU family, and invite you to include all your peers, juniors and seniors to become a part of the Somaiya Vidyavihar University Alumni fraternity.

The registered office of the Association shall be in Mumbai in the State of Maharashtra and at present its address shall be at:

Area of Jurisdiction of the Association

The office of the Society shall be situated currently at Somaiya Vidyavihar Complex, Vidyavihar, Mumbai-400 077 and its branch can be opened anywhere in India or abroad by the Alumni Committee. The activities of the Society shall not be restricted to India.
No Society or Association or Institution or Firm or Council in any part of the Republic of India shall be entitled to be known as SOMAIYA VIDYAVIHAR UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, unless it is affiliated to this Association.

Aims And Objectives Of Association

To act as a link between all the institutions run by ‘Somaiya Vidyavihar University’ and its alumni.
To encourage, promote and facilitate education and research and other activities of the university.
To adopt meritorious, poor & needy and/or deserving students from the institutions run by ‘Somaiya Vidyavihar University’ by providing financial or otherwise assistance to them.
To extend help to alumni for getting placements and motivating alumni to offer help to present students.
To encourage alumni to sponsor activities/programmes/ events organized by institutes run by ‘Somaiya Vidyavihar University’.
To contribute to the teaching, infrastructure, research and development of the University.
To conduct seminars, conferences, exhibitions, meet and other social functions.
To establish the sense of social awareness and responsibility that had been inculcated in them by the college.
To increase the university’s network through its alumni.
To motivate alumni to become member of the association.
To create platform for alumni community building among alumni.
To conduct various programmes (inter-personal and on-line) for alumni of ‘Somaiya Vidyavihar University’ and current students.
To subscribe and to become a member of other institutions in any part of world having objectives similar to the objectives of the association.
To undertake any other activity that is deemed to be necessary for the objectives of the Association.
To organize get-together of the Alumni.
To assist in improvement and development of infrastructure in all the institutes run by ‘Somaiya Vidyavihar University’ All the moneys collected by the association shall be utilized towards students and alumnus of the association and fulfillments of its objects.
To apply to the Government, public bodies, urban, local, municipal, district and other bodies, corporations, companies or other persons for and to accept grants or money, equipment, land, buildings, donations, gifts, subscriptions and other assistance with a view to promote and further the objects of the association.
Beneficiaries of the association shall be public at large without discrimination of any kind.
And generally, to and execute all such acts, deeds, matters and things as may be conducive to or for achieving objects of the Association or anyone of them including hiring, leasing, acquiring, transferring, disposing off, creating any charge or lien in any property for fulfillment of objects.

All the income, earnings, movable/immovable properties of the Association shall be solely utilized and applied towards the promotion of its aims and objects only as set forth in the Memorandum of Association and no profit thereof shall be paid or transferred directly or indirectly by way of dividends or bonus or profits or in any manner whatsoever to the present or past members of the Association or to any persons claiming through any of the present or past members. No member of the Association shall have any personal claim on any movable or immovable properties of the Association or make any profit, whatsoever by virtue of his/her Membership.

AND WHEREAS nothing contained in this deed shall be deemed to authorize the trustees to do any act which may in any way be construed statutory modifications thereof and all activities of the trust shall be carried out with a view to benefit the public at large, without any profit, motive and in accordance with the provisions of the Income-Tax Act, or any statutory modification thereof. AND WHEREAS the trust is hereby expressly declared to be a public charitable trust and all the provisions of this deed are to be constituted accordingly.
