About Minority Cell
In adherence to the University Grants Commission (UGC) Regulations 2019 and our steadfast commitment to fostering diversity and a discrimination-free environment, Somaiya Vidyavihar University has formed the Minority Cell.
Responsibilities of this cell include
Oversee all affairs related to Minority.
Address matters of deprivation based on caste, creed, language, ethnicity.
Provide support and assistance to minority students in academic and non-academic matters.
Eliminate discrimination and harassment in all forms.
Organize workshops, seminars, and events to celebrate and raise awareness about minority cultures.
Facilitate access to scholarships, financial aid, and support services for minority students.
Counseling for emotional emergencies arising on campus.
Procedure for Complaints
Complaint received via email from the aggrieved Minority individual addressed to the committee.
Detailed description of alleged discrimination/harassment and complainant's details.
Committee-led hearings involving both parties.
Recommendations submitted to the Disciplinary Authority for appropriate action.
