BSc Sports and Exercise Science students had the unique opportunity to witness and participate in a live Steeplechase demonstration conducted by Vineet Prajapati, a National-level athlete and AIU Zonal Gold Medallist.
Held on the athletics track, the session featured four hurdle jumps and a fully prepared water pit. Vineet demonstrated professional techniques, showcasing the approach run, hurdle form, and water jump landing with precision. Students then engaged in the activity, attempting the water jump under his guidance.
The interactive session gave students a practical understanding of the physical demands of steeplechase, including the need for hip flexibility, leg strength, ankle mobility, and aerobic endurance. They also learned the importance of lightweight, water-draining footwear designed specifically for this event.
This engaging demonstration blended theory with practice, allowing students to experience firsthand what it takes to perform in a challenging track event like Steeplechase, led by a champion in the field.
