We inaugurated Maya S. Somaiya Library at Somaiya Vidyavihar's Shri Sharda English Medium School, Kopargaon Maharashtra. This library is designed is by the Mumbai based architect, Sameep Padora. Keeping in mind the instinctive affinity that children have towards natural environments over just an ordinary building, the design of the library is an innovative creation of a structure built without any columns and beams under it. The vault has three layers of brick tile spanning 145 feet, a width of 25 feet and only 4 inches in thickness. The library is spread over 5000 square feet of floor space with a capacity to house over 22,000 books.
