Dr Luckman Muhmood is currently working as a Professor in Mechanical Engineering at K J Somaiya College of Engineering, Vidyavihar since 2017. He did his PhD from KTH (Royal Institute of Technology) Sweden in the Area of Materials Process Science. He was associated with CSIRO Australia, where had worked with the High Temperature Research Group focussing on Waste Heat Recovery from Blast Furnace slags.
He was awarded the TMS (The Minerals, Material and Metals Society) Extraction and Processing Metallurgy Science Award 2017, San Diego, USA and the 12th Willy Korf Award for young excellence at the AMM Steel Success Strategies Congress (SSS XXVI), at New York, USA, 2011. He has also received DST-SERB – Core Research Grant in 2017 and 2023. He has been a reviewer for many international Journals in the area of Materials Science and Metallurgy.
His research interests are related to Process Metallurgy (Slag-Metal interactions), High Temperature Material Properties (Slags, Glass, Salts and Metals), Energy (Heat Extraction from industrial Wastes, Heat Transfer Fluids and Thermal Energy Storage for Solar Thermal Applications, Materials for Energy) and Value Addition and Recovery from Industrial/Electronic Wastes. He currently is expanding his interests to Composite Materials . He currently is collaborating with BARC in the area of Materials for Hydrogen Energy.
