Dr. Nirmala Gaikwad holds a graduate degree in Medical Sciences (MBBS) and a Post graduate degree (MD) in the specialty of Pathology from the prestigious Grant Medical College and J.J Groups of hospital, Mumbai University.

She has a total  experience of over 16 years  in the subject of Pathology.

She is currently working as Associate Professor, Department of Pathology, K J Somaiya Medical College and Hospital.

She is an Under Graduate Examiner in MUHS.

Apart from teaching assignments she is actively involved in Histopathology, Cytology, Clinical Pathology and Haematology reporting in the Pathology department.

She has participated in various National and State level conferences and presented posters and oral papers in National and state level conferences. She is participating in slide seminar every year in MAPCON.

She has completed her basic and advanced level training in the field of Medical education, affiliated to MCI and MUHS.

She is an active member of Bombay Breast Group and Bombay Cytology group.

She also actively participates in Senior Surgical Meetings held every month in various hospitals in Mumbai.

She is actively involved in research activity in the field of Pathology and has published a number of research papers in the subject.
