RESCUE BOAT FOR CARRYING LIVESTOCK
Recent monsoon floods in Kolhapur, Sangli and other areas in Maharashtra (2019) have left countless animals – cattle, pets and strays washed away, displaced or left behind in submerged houses and affected areas. When water levels were on rise, many livestock left behind couldn’t find their way out due to spreading water in areas. To rescue animals, hundreds of volunteers and animal rescue workers have travelled to flood-affected areas. As soon as the flood water started receding, many animal carcasses started showing up at affected areas. As per government estimates, it is very difficult to say how many animals died in the flood. Recent floods have demonstrated that people may not evacuate if they cannot take their animals with them. Issues also arise if the people do not have assurances that they and their pets will be co-located or cohabitated when seeking shelter. Those who are forced to evacuate without their pets may attempt to re-enter the evacuated area before it is safe to do so to rescue their animals. In either case, this places a greater burden on the first responders that are tasked with the safety of people within the impacted area. Therefore, the need to be able to evacuate animals is paramount, and the ideal situation would be one where people and animals are evacuated together whenever possible. Livestock which were stuck in recent floods were rescued by NDRF with the help of ropes. Ropes are tied to animals and they are escorted out of the water to prevent being carried away by flood water.Based on these incidents, the design of the rescue boat is built and testing and verification of the boat is done. Further addition of IoT makes the boat more advanced than the other boats since there are fewer boats available in the market based on these concepts.
