Microstrip Antenna as a Temperature Sensor for IoT Application

Temperature sensing plays a vital role in applications like the medical industry, agriculture, automobile, home automation, textiles industry, and many more. Sensing accurate temperature and its maintenance at a particular value is another requirement of many applications. Temperature sensing can be done using various temperature sensors. This paper uses a microstrip antenna as a temperature sensor without human intervention. Change in the resonant frequency of the microstrip antenna is observed with variation in temperature. The sensed temperature variation is provided for processing through the IoT platform. Using arduino and GSM module extracted data can be sent to the cloud and can be used for data logging on the cloud. Using serial monitor of arduino IDE data has been observed. Thing-Speak cloud IoT analytics platform is used to combine, visualize and investigate live data streams.
