Testing
The Vidyavihar & Ghatkopar is surrounded by many big construction projects of MMRDA & as well as private builders & developers. To test the quality of construction materials, various agencies prefer aided institutes. The department is offering testing services of all civil engg. materials. The amount of Internal revenue generated (IRG) during last 3 years is Rs. 1,04,500=00 in 2016-2017 Rs.40,350=00 in 2015-2016, Rs.71,900=00 in 2014-2015. The target of department is to provide testing facilities 100% to all stakeholders as & when needed. The testing rates & other norms are as governed by relevant G.R. of Govt. of Maharashtra.
Consultancy
The department is offering structural consultancy (proof checking of designs), third party structural audit, etc. As per Govt. of Maharashtra G.R. & directions of DTE (Directorate of Technical Education, M.S.), an appeal to sign MOU between Sarva Shikshan Abhiyan funded school buildings (Under Maharashtra Shikshan Prathamik Parishad) was made. Accordingly, K. J. Somaiya Polytechnic, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Zilla Parishad under Thane district. Accordingly, units of School building in 3 Talukas of Thane district were inspected as per described procedure & Non destructive testing etc. Audit reports were generated & certified. Under this activity the IRG generated during 2014-15 is Rs.16,20,914=00 and in 2015-2016 is Rs. 85,311=00. Also in 2015-2016 through the consultancy of proof checking work Rs. 12,000=00 is generated.
